Simka Sol embodies the creative vision of graphic designer Sara (Simcha) Charles. With a background in graphic design, surface pattern design, screen printing, and fashion, Sara has passionately curated a vibrant collection of clothing, art, and home decor that showcases her distinctive prints and artworks.
Her fearless graphic style, coupled with a touch of earthiness and occasional macabre undertones, creates a captivating and highly sought-after aesthetic.
A proud graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design ('07), Sara has nurtured her business for the past 16 years.

Having learned the art of screen printing, Sara modified the process by adapting it to eco-friendly practices. Instead of relying on UV exposure units and electricity, she exposes screens using natural sunlight during the daytime.
In alignment with Sara's dedication to sustainability, all screen prints are created using water-based inks that are free from harmful VOCs, PVC, and other toxic substances.
Simka Sol's commitment extends to the selection of materials—proudly offering USA-milled fabrics and high quality imported blends. These textiles adhere to stringent environmental and Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production guidelines. Additionally, we use low-impact, fiber-reactive dyes for the dyeing process.
Prioritizing quality over quantity, Simka Sol partners with seasoned international manufacturers that meet our rigorous standards while keeping production small-batch and intentional. In addition, our in-house studio brings select pieces—like our signature turtlenecks and big tees—to life from start to finish. This approach reduces waste, eliminates excess inventory, and ensures every garment receives the careful craftsmanship it deserves.

Sara uses Uni Pin pens and Karin Brushmarker pro markers. She uses Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to fine tune artworks and create repeating prints.
Do you really cut and sew everything in house?
Do you really cut and sew everything in house?
Sara used to cut and sew each item in house herself. However in 2021 it became too much for her to do by herself after a spine surgery and needed to find manufacturers that aligned with her quality standards. Some products are still made in house, like our big tees and turtlenecks. Items will say whether they are made in house or imported on individual product pages.

In 2009 with a wooden cutting board and the internet. No kidding!
Sara learned to screen print from an online tutorial and hand screen printed t-shirts in her apartment using a wooden cutting board as a platen. She worked this way for a few years until she saved enough money to purchase a real screen printing press and a conveyor dryer.
Since 2009 she's driven all over the country attending different trade shows and craft fairs, had her art on TV, became an Etsy featured seller and had her first runway show.
